WHO CAN CARRY OUT A LOLER?
LOLER inspections must be performed by a competent person — someone with the necessary knowledge, training, and experience to thoroughly examine lifting equipment and identify safety risks. This is typically a qualified engineer, technician, or inspection specialist who is independent and impartial.
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED A LOLER?
LOLER examinations are required:
-
Every 6 months for equipment used to lift people (e.g. passenger lifts, hoists)
-
Every 12 months for other lifting equipment (e.g. goods lifts, forklift attachments)
-
After installation or major repairs
-
If equipment is moved or damaged
